The Denial Machine

According to an informative article in Newsweek , a conservative think tank long funded by ExxonMobil had offered scientists $10,000 to write articles undercutting the reports about computer-based climate models which give evidence to global warming.
It shows how oil companies are paying scientists to dispute other scientists about the threat of global warming and create uncertainty in the minds of the public. This way, it avoids public pressure to eliminate continued use and reliance on fossil fuels and their profits flowing.
Additionally, a consortium of oil companies create lobbying groups with names like the Global Climate Coalition and the Information Council on the Environment (which sound like they really care about the environment) who don’t actually do their own research but dispute other researchers and try to stop congress from passing any laws that have teeth in reducing pollution.
If Newsweek is right about this, then it shows that oil companies are promoting the continued use of oil, and their profits at the expense of our health, air, enviroment and national interests. Additionally, they are trying to hide it, make us blind and ignorant to the facts. They actually pay scientists to dispute hard evidence, to call it uncertain, exaggerated, and even a hoax.
We ourselves have to find a way to see through the lies and falsehoods brought upon us by money hungry oil companies. We must conserve or use more alternative energy in our everyday life, as well as pressure our representatives in congress to hear us and invest to alternative energy technologies, change the laws create stricter emissions limts and encourage other nations to participate in saving our planet.
